Sony is now testing a new Cert format, apparently in an effort to get us to use more vehilces. New certs are as follows:

Air Cavalry - 4 CP - Mosquito, Reaver
Air Support - 3 CP - Galaxy, Liberator, Lodestar
ATV - 2 CP - Basilisk, Wraith, Switchblade
Light Scout - 3 CP - Harasser, Lightning
Assault Buggy - 3 CP - Empire Buggy, Skyguard
Armored Assault - 3 CP - Empire Tank, Flail
Transport - 2 CP - Deliverer, Sunderer
Support - 2 CP - AMS, Router
Uni-MAX - 5 CP - All 3 MAXes (Individual suits still available)

My first reaction is "Yay, except the mosquito". I've got Mosquito certed now, with 0 extra points. I'm gonna have to rework a lot of stuff if they go ahead with these changes. :(

Also, part of the announcement was they everyone would have their certs completely reset once this was implemented, so it's a good opportunity to start from scratch.

I guess that is good and bad. I would like to see more cert points be open to us. I mean our maxes still sux compared to most. (ok not as bad as they used to but you know what I mean).

Well...thats pretty cool, but I agree Chadly...skeeter Reaver for 4 isn't right. That should be a 3 cert deal.

Although....with the zero COF change to the skeeter, anyone with a good aim is now a VERY mobile sniper with that thing. Maybe that is with 4 points...dunno.

Well shit...this is a big change. I gotta think this over and do some math. I wonder if they are fucking with hack/eng/med? If I was a designer, I think I'd go to:

Heal 2 points
heal and revive 4 points
repair 2 points
deploy static defenses 2 points
hack terms/lockers 2 points
hack all and hack FAST...as in 4 second CC hack 4 points

I think the ability to heal and repair should be cheap and easy to find. I want a lot of engineers out there fixing maxes. I want a lot more soldiers able to fix themselves after a little fight. Reducing the Death Cycle that so many get into should be a goal.

I've never thought it was logical that you have to be able to fix shit in order to use an ACE...I see no connection between the two.

Also, while I'm in fantasy land....I want my boxes of nanite that I use for repair ammo to be able to be shoved into a NTU silo. I think I should be able to walk over to the NTU silo and drop ina couple boxes I carrier over.....maybe a full box is only worth 1%...but a full squad bringing a couple boxes each would be able to keep a place from going neutral. Ok, returning to the real world...get an ANT asshole...I know.

I agree...I have to recalculate. I have to think over break now...no fair :(

If anyone hears when they will be doing this through the forum let me know pls.

And for making repair cheaper...lots of ppl can do it, but the problem is no one cna tell when you need repairs. I think that if you are holding the armor repair thingy then instead of health over ppl's head you see their armor, then more ppl will be getting repaired.

The NTU thing is ok but think what a person with an ams next to a silo could do.

This is one change to PS that I welcome. The old system did not allow for much flexibility with vehicles, though when I played, there was no population issue and normally there was always someone on who was certed for a particular vehicle. I guess now with population issues and all, Sony probably felt this was a wise move. Hehe, I'm especially looking forward to the option to cert in all 3 MAXes for 5 cert points. Can't wait to December when I can play again.

It's nice to see this change, but I really wish they'd look at some of the other cert costs. 3 for rexo? And the 3 points to be a worthless hacker and 5 to be a valuable hacker doesn't make sense at all. My suggestion:

-Basic hacking - 2 points - improves hacking speed but nothing else
-Advanced hacking - 2 points - allows you to hack terms, etc
-Engineering - 2 points - repairs, etc
-Combat Engineering - 2 points - and doesn't require basic engineering to do. I can't fathom why the ability to place land mines should require the ability to do repairs
-Basic medic - 2 points - what it does now
-Advanced medic - 2 points - what it does now

-Rexo - 2 points
-Anti-vehicle - 3 points but then give each side an Anti-ground seperate anti-air weapon

With the current change, if I stick with the Air transport instead of going back to rexo, I'll get the liberator and lodestar for free, plus an extra max suite (the comet). My main objection though to this cert change is that it's going to make the game even more vehicle intensive, and I think it's already too much so right now.

Skeeters should be categorized as a Light Scout Vehicle. I'm maxed out already and dont want to lose it by 1 point.

yeah, but i get so many more kills in a skeeter than with any scout vehicles. one day >= 30 reaver kills in a skeeter

The only thing I don't quite like about this:

it means they aren't going to raise the max BR level anytime soon. To keep a balance in the amount of certs per person without making a person uber, they would need to split the cert groups up again. That or they add even more junk later.

Other than that, this makes me a lil happy because now I can get more Veh with the same number of cert points.
So now I gain out of this deal:
1 cert point
the deliverer
the skeet
the flail (no CC so not much of a gain)
the skyguard

Oh well, if it is a cert wipe, then I might change what I have. I've been goofing around with the certs a bit to see what I like

Well is there going to be a reset is what i want to know.

Not sure if anyone answered this. Yes, your certs were wiped. When you log back in for the first time you must go to the cert. terms and redo everything.
