A discussion has been going on about the idea of Gunships in Planetside.

SmokeJumperPS has said in the thread: "I agree with the concept of shooting out the sides of the vehicle...where you could actually be shot/killed independently of the vehicle. It'd be fun to have your crew picked off around you...and it would be fun to feel like you were hanging out over the ground like that.
There are a few technical issues for us to work out with that, but it wouldn't be too bad. Possibly in the future. Good idea."

Below is a picture I have drawn up after thinking about the idea. I go on to list other 'properties' of the gunship in the thread. Please post your ideas so maybe one day we can see such an aircraft in Planetside.

I see a slight resemblance to the Star Wars Old Republic Gunship...any one else see it??

Just looked at the actually site...they did mention the Old Republic Gunships...adn besides...thats what you need...not this helicopter bullshit. Thats what out air craft are now...cept futeristic ones that have the jet engines...wy would you want a slow piece of shit that would excelerate slow(couldn't have afterburners) and would have to be pretty fragile. All you need is to make the Gal smaller...make the side doors disapear...make the wings higher(so gunners have a clear view), take out all guns currently on it, put a nose piece(liek a skeeter), maybe a tail gun to, and you have your gunship.

What would be really sweet/cool/perfect, so it nvr will happen, would make the weapons it did have Empire based...VS would have like a railgun...think mag that can fly...TR would have a suped-upped chaingun of some kind...NC could have like cluster rockets...or something (not sure on them). I know, I know...With the slots for people to shoot out of why have Empire weapons?...to make it more realsitc...when not transporting it needs protection, and since they dont have a empire aircraft...you can kill 2 dev's with one stone, a..i mean...issues...ya...



And what i said about helicopters is really exagerated. I was comparing them to the futureistic of PS...Helicopters are quite cool, very agile, pretty good accel, and i knwo Cobra's can go wicked fast. So no offense to anyone...if anyone saw it that way.
