I found this in a posting and thought it was of interest. It is
supposed to increase Frame rate:

Open machine.ini in planetside folder. Find fullres_max_buffer=32

if ur video card memory is 64, change 32 to 64, if it is 128, change
it to 128, if it is 256, change it to 256.

I haven't tried it yet but I will tonight.

here is the original thread it has more interesting info in it for
those who may be looking for more FPS tips:

Wow, good hint. I haven't tried it yet but I find nothing but a sea of positive responses on the forum. Another piece of info that may be lost to someone who doesn't read that original post: To help those times when your harddrive goes nuts loading textures, move all of your screenshots to a different folder. I know I've got about 150 screenies (4meg each) just sitting there, so I'll try that later.

This tweak really did seem to help. Normally I'd go as low as 4fps which is really unplayable. Now I'm getting 7-8fps which still sucks but it's a world of difference.

Mostly I was just thinking that when you hit those high spikes of traffic that if you had a modem, I could see that as being a problem. In the settings you can adjust your network connection to be considered high, medium, or low bandwidth which might help you. I've got 1.5/384 DSL and never have network problems, but then again, if I did, my slow graphics would probably cover it up :).

I'm also getting a free upgrade soon to 768 up so that should be nice :)
