Me and Abe are OK, our apartments are located roughly 400yds NE of Norris Hall, I was in my apartment getting ready to leave late for class, Abe was about 100 feet from Norris when shots rang out. He was a bit upset considering his proximity to the location but turned tail and hauled ass back here.

Glad you guys are okay. Somebody told me about this a few hours ago and I didn't really do the math on it. Then when I was on my lunch walk I was listening to the news and they said VirginiaTech and suddenly I was like, "oh crap!"

saw bleeding people put into ambulances...
heard the announcement to seek shelter on the emergency megaphone system and booked it back to my apartment.

Boy am I glad I was running late to class. If I were on time, I'd be closer than I'd want to be to that. The sidewalk I was on is on the same level as the second floor of the building... where the gunman went wild.

sad that the administration dropped the ball on this one. 1 person dead in their dorm at 7 am and they didn't cancel class or lock down campus til 10:30? figured they'd do that after the first shooting, not the second.

so far, it doesn't look like that. Around here I keep hearing things like "Don't blame the school, blame the guy who did it." and I always respond with "If I don't blame the school for the screw-up, this will happen again." All the propositions I see on the news to prevent this from happening again like an alarm system, I laugh and say "WE ALREADY HAVE THAT. The school administration decided not to USE it." They are tryin hard to dodge lawsuits for sure. I want to see whoever had final say on this get canned. About time someone owns up to their responsibilities of their position, cuz I know I don't want to stay going here if they get off for free so they can screw up again.

Now that i think back, i recall in the army working a firing range detail with a guy who acted a lot like the loser at VT. I think i will henceforth be wary of socially/psychologically fucked up peeps and keep and eye on them.
