I've heard about Flight Safety in Orlando. Our school works with them to get our pilots time in CRJ simulators.
But I've never heard of this specific flight school.
If you're looking into coming to Florida to learn to be a pilot, come to Riddle (http://www.erau.edu). If you've already got your bachelor's, we have a great program called the CAPT program which gets you all your ratings (private, instrument, commercial, multi) in a year, for a pretty decent price considering the quality of your instruction and aircraft.

Pan-Am doesn't exist anymore, if I'm correct.

This is the link I meant to post... shows all the ratings etc you earn through the program. They seem to have good job placement as well. If at all possible, I'd like to become a pilot without doing a 4 year program at a university :P

Then I have two recommendations for you:
1) The military
2) (if you already have your bachelor's) the CAPT program (http://www.erau.edu/capt/) at Embry Riddle.

I was reading more into Embrey and the four year thing doesn't look that bad :)
What are the costs of doing it.. and since I'm non-resident my wallet will be h4x0red same with financial aid :P

Meh, Riddle's the same whether you're a Florida resident or not.
Unfortunately, that means your wallet gets an assraping whether you're a resident or not, too.
Flight costs run about $15,000 per year alone. Just for flights, flight supplies, orals, et cetera. Tuition is about $12,000 a semester.
Worth every penny, imo. My airline pilot mentor recommended Riddle by name as the only worthy alternate to joining the military. As far as quality of instruction and equipment is concerned, you will not find anything else in the civilian world that can parallel it in its excellence. Except Flight Safety in Orlando, but that's later on in your training, young grasshopper.

If you want to go the non-military route, Emery Riddle is the best. I've never really wanted to be a pilot but I've always had a fascination with it and my father used to be a pilot. Emery has, by far, the best reputation for that stuff.
Having said that, becoming a pilot through civilian channels is not cheap. It costs a lot of money to get your hours. The military, aside from that whole, "might get shot down and die" element, is really a good way to go because you get a lot of hours, good training, and it costs you nothing. My father was in the airforce in the late 50's and early 60's (never had to fly in Vietnam fortunately). Flew century series planes, I think mostly the F101. Then went to United in '65 and flew there for about 35 years.
So really, you've got two good options. You can go other routes, but with the aviation industry the way it's been lately, personally, I wouldn't take my chances :)

Normally i highly recommend the military when on subjects like this. But usually I am talking to a Canadian about the Canadian military which then involves a very low risk of seeing combat. It is possible to find yourself in conflict in the Canadian military but you pretty much have to want it and then when you are there you wonder what the hell is wrong with your decision making processes.
Aside from that, I would say that you being an American, if you do not wish to possibly find yourself in a position of military conflict then you should not go the military route. Instead, spend the next 15 years of your life paying back the student loans you have accrued.

I dunno if I could join the military. I have a dental implant and my mom, who is prior military, thinks that they wouldn't recruit me because of it. Oh darn.

my feet are too flat for me to possibly join anything in the army, So that overrules that idea

lmao SoV forums are so much funnier then most TR forums
oh yeah and my 2 cents about riddle, riddle is a great school for anything involving aircraft, the only reason I don't go there anymore is cause I decided I didn't wanna work with aircraft anymore... they're fun but to fragile :( also I failed a few classes cause of to much Counterstrike, airsoft hallway battles, and beer.

I predict that you will regret your immature mistakes for many years.

First you are young and you make lots of mistakes which you get to regret when your older. Yet, once you get older, you'll look back on a good half of those mistakes and wish you could be back making them again rather than paying a mortgage, etc.

oh, my GPA has recovered since freshman year, I've already retaken most of my failed classes and recieved high marks, the only real punishment is that it will be at least another year till I graduate.
