Well! I moved... took a while to re-establish a high speed internet connection. I promply got fired from my RL job... yeah... sucks. They sent me in to work on our stuff at the local Boeing plant but i did not have training on said stuff. Boeing wasnt impressed so my company fired to me to cover their assess. Well i am looking into a wrongful dismissal lawsuit. Hope i win. Now i log on and see big changes to the site and 1..2..3..300 forum posts... guess i better get reading.
I hope the game has gotten better since i last logged on. Seemed like it was going down hill back then.

Lawsuit? What state do you work in? In VA its a right to work state, meaning they can fire you for anything. Lovely right?
I've been fired more times then i can count. So may say that i'm not a team player, but who really is the team? I say its me, myself, and I?
Good luck on that lawsuit thing. I've tried it a couple of times, for shits and grins. Its a bumpy road my friend.

do you mean it's a privelage to work in VA cause if it was a right then they couldn't fire you for "just" anything... i'm confused
what are you trying to get out of the lawsuit? hopes for your job back and the proper training you should recieve? just curious buzz.
No, the name is mis-leading.
I think it should be:
Right to work on firing your ass for any reason they damn well please.
Georgia is also setup that way.
But, I hope at least the threat of the lawsuit gets you something Buzz.

Thanks guys.
I am from Canada, Armor. Much harder to sue in Canada but i will try anyways. What i do have in my favour is that our "socialist" style of government may penalize my previous employer if i can prove that i was wrongfully dismissed. And of course i can also pursue a wrongful dismissal lawsuit.
What i hope to get is a large compensation package for i will seek to prove that i intended to be employed by this company for many years and that now i cannot use them as a reference it will be very difficult to secure new employment in the Electronics technology arena. If i can prove that they also black-balled me i should get a very generous compensation - again provided that i was wrongfully dismissed. It wont be easy for i really did look like a fool at Boeing cuz i had no idea what to do with the system there. So i really have to prove that they pressured me to perform even though they had not yet provided me with the proper training.
Well I hope you win. I think technical people get put in that situation way too often. Sometimes you can fake it, or shift blame to the technology you're using....but sometimes you just can't. Its totally wrong to expect a technical person to be an expert in all areas.
If you were a dentist, but your employer forced you to perform the work of a chiropractor and you wound up breaking a patient's back, would anyone blame you? No, they'd ask who the asshole was who decided to send out the dentist.

Of course you said you were sent to work on your company's stuff at the local Boeing plant yet you didn't have training on said stuff. The jury might wonder why you didn't speak up and say to your supervisors that you weren't qualified for the proposed job? If they misled you then it bolsters your case, on the other hand if you weren't proactive in getting an understanding of the proposed work then you share in the responsibility for not providing Boeing a contracted service, and if they show that you did know what you were supposed to do and were not qualified you are screwed. :?

Aye, there's the rub!
I admit that i was not proactive and should have insisted that i could not do the job adequately. But therein also i would have suffered some penalties for refusing a job assignment. They think i should have been up to the task by now and maybe i should be but they forget that they have assigned me to work up north on the piddly projects for the last 2 or 3 months ( i think some of you would remember my whining about being up there and no internet service) and i did not get the exposure to the high end stuff.
I completely agree with Rahl's analogy. The ignorance of end users and their perceptions with respect to high technology is almost astonishing.
Feel sorry for you Buzz but I'm not sure how far you'll get with your suit :(
If you
1) Said you felt you didn't have enough training, or were hesitant on what you could contribute
2) Asked for support when you found out you couldn't do it
3) Your job description doesn't have this specific system (or whatever as I'd likely not understand it)
you'll be good logically and should be able to appeal to a jury. If you didn't do any of that or if you don't have documentation showing they set you up to fail then you're going to be a hurting :(. Well good luck with it.

Good idea Wolf...need a new class of VS. Add a lawyer cert. Gal drop a bunch of lawyers on a enemy base. No weapons except the bullshit bioplant. We'd have continent after continent taken in no time. The enemy would run and hide so fast.
